Your 7 days starts at your first connection abroad, not when you pay — and it runs as a rolling window. Connect at 01:00 and it lasts until 01:00 on day 8, not to midnight.
Does your phone support an eSIM?
Dial *#06# on your keypad. If the panel that opens lists an EID, your phone is eSIM-ready. It works on iPhone and Android, takes about ten seconds, and nothing leaves your device.
- Open the Phone appThe normal dialler — the one you make calls from.
- Type *#06#No need to press call — the panel opens on its own.
- Look for EIDA 32-digit number under the IMEIs. If it is there, you are eSIM-ready.
No EID? The phone takes a physical SIM only, and a travel eSIM will not work on it. If the EID is there but your handset came from a carrier, check it is not network-locked before you buy.
Installed before you board
Your QR arrives by email the moment payment clears. Install on the sofa, land in Bangkok connected.
Choose unlimited, fixed data, or data with calls. The price you see is the price you pay.
It lands in your inbox instantly. Install the profile at home over Wi-Fi and leave it dormant.
The plan activates the moment you connect in Thailand — validity starts then, not at purchase.
Your eSIM never expires
Only a plan has a validity. The eSIM stays on your phone, so whenever you need data again you add a new plan to the same eSIM.
- No new QR codeA top-up goes onto the eSIM you already installed. Nothing to scan, nothing to reinstall.
- Top up for your next tripMost eSIMs take plans for other destinations too, so one eSIM can travel with you.
- Plan expired? Add anotherWhen a plan runs out, the eSIM stays. Add a new plan and carry on with the same profile.
Key features
Thailand eSIM: data on landing, no SIM card
Who a Thailand eSIM suits
A Thailand travel eSIM suits anyone who wants mobile data on landing without queueing at an airport counter: a week split between Bangkok and the islands, a month of remote work, or a long stay across the country. You buy a data plan before you fly, install it from a QR code, and it connects to a local network when you arrive. There is no roaming bill and no physical SIM to swap.
Where it works
Thailand plans connect to AIS and DTAC. Expect the most reliable signal in cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket Town, and on the main tourist islands. Remote national parks, mountain routes and some small islands can have weak or no signal on any network, so download offline maps for those days.
Which phones support it
Your phone must be eSIM-capable and network-unlocked. Recent iPhones (iPhone XS and newer), Google Pixel phones from the Pixel 3, and many recent Samsung Galaxy models support eSIM; check your phone's settings for an eSIM or "Add eSIM" option, or dial *#06# and look for an EID number. If it has one, it works.
How to set it up
After checkout you receive a QR code by email and in your account. Scan it under Settings, then Mobile data (iPhone) or Network, then SIMs (Android) and add it as a travel line, ideally on Wi-Fi before you fly. Switch the line on and turn on data roaming for it once you land; the plan's validity starts at your first connection, not when you buy.
eSIM, tourist SIM or roaming
A tourist SIM in Thailand means a counter queue, a physical card and often a passport check, and it replaces your home SIM. Home-network roaming is convenient but usually the most expensive way to use data abroad. An eSIM sits beside your home SIM, so you can keep receiving calls and texts on your own number while the travel line carries your data.
Choosing a plan size
Maps, messaging and social media use little data; video calls, streaming and tethering a laptop use a lot. For a short trip of light use a small fixed plan is enough, for a fortnight or more choose a larger one, and for heavy daily use an unlimited plan avoids counting gigabytes. Check the fair-use note on any unlimited plan, and every plan can be topped up if you run short.
Technical details
Unlimited plans carry 2 GB of high-speed data per day, then unlimited data at 256 kbps. The counter resets on a 24-hour timer from your first connection — activate at 10 AM and fresh high-speed data lands at 10 AM daily.
Mobile networks in Thailand
Your Thailand eSIM connects to the 2 local networks below on 4G/5G — the same masts residents use, so you are never roaming. Your device picks whichever has the best signal where you are.
